Griffyn Ensemble concert "Earth"

Hi everyone! I have recently had the pleasure of working with the Griffyn Ensemble (Canberra's premier chamber ensemble) on their upcoming concert, Earth, for National Science Week, which is on Saturday 17 August at 7pm, in the leafy environment of the CSIRO Discovery Centre atrium.
The concert celebrates Canberra’s earthly environs, including a song written for Griffyn that lists every species of tree in the new National Arboretum! Don't miss the world premiere of Griffyn director Michael Sollis’ City of Trees Suite, commissioned for the Canberra Centenary’s City of Trees Radio Plays as an exploration and impression of Canberra’s iconic treescapes (you can find out more at http://www.canberra100.com.au/programs/city-of-trees/).
For my part I have created an illustrative guide to the program featuring 20 new drawings. I really enjoyed listening and responding to the music through images and am excited that  everyone will take home an illustrated guide as part of the concert!  Below is one of the illustrations (drawn with powdered graphite), I look forward to sharing the rest with you after the concert.

You can expect to enjoy a wide variety of music, including music by Aussie compatriots Martin Wesley Smith (hear all about our Caterpillar of Society) and Cold Chisel.  The concert will  feature garden music from Chile by Juan Orrego-Salas, and you will hear the tremors of the San Andreas fault line with music by American composer Ursula Mamlok.  I personally can't wait to hear clarinettist Matt O’Keeffe’s dazzling solo performance in combination with sounds of bugs and beetles as the Griffyn Ensemble continues their Swedish musical exchange with Australian premieres of works by Henrik Strindberg, Jenny Hettne, and Frederik Högberg.
Tickets for this event are strictly limited and can be booked at http://griffyn.iwannaticket.com.au
