The Lake

I am swamped with a pile of work leading up to graduation, but amidst it all I am really enjoying working a little more intuitively in these powdered graphite drawings.

Footprints

Another page for the bowerbird story, powdered graphite, lots of experimenting creating textures by drawing with the eraser. The pages are in no particular order at the moment, again text will be inserted later... thanks for looking!

The Bowerbird

Here is a powdered graphite drawing for a graphic novella I have started working on. The white bars are for text, which I'll put in later. I wrote the story based on an Australian bird called the Satin Bowerbird, which is known to steal and collect blue things, shiny things and also (in this story) memories. The story features dreamscapes, life, death, love and revenge... but I'll tell you about that some other time, for now I have lots of drawing to do!

p.s. you can learn more about the bowerbird in this funny video

Whales

Here is my 3rd and last (at least for now) illustration for the young adult novel "My Sister Sif", by Ruth Park, featuring whales showing the human a wound in the ocean floor. It's watercolor, 8.5 x 13 inches. I had a challenging time with this one, but I think it worked out in the end... let me know if you have any suggestions, as always I appreciate your feedback :)
