Vive Lithographie! (Lithography Class)

image: Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, The box with the golden mask, 1893, colour lithograph, 37 x 32 cm, National Gallery of Australia, Canberra (The Poynton Bequest, 2010)

I'm looking forward to teaching an intensive four-day summer class in lithography January 22-25, 2013 at Megalo Print Studio. The class coincides with the fantastic Toulouse-Lautrec exhibition currently on display at the National Gallery of Australia, which features many of Toulouse-Lautrec's groundbreaking lithographic posters. During the class we will cover the basics of drawing, processing and printing from a lithographic stone as well as introducing colour printing. There will be opportunities to experiment with marks inspired by Toulouse-Lautrec, such as his distinct spatter technique, and to receive assistance with individual projects. All levels of experience are welcome. If you have ever been curious to explore the art of lithography this may be your chance!

Bookings are essential and can be made by phone (02 62406528) or online through National Gallery of Australia.

I'm happy to share these images of work from my recent solo exhibition Barranco (Ravine) in cooperation with the Embassy of Spain and the ANU School of Art! In these drawings and prints I focused on revisiting and re-imagining my experience hiking in the Spanish Pyrenees last year. I wanted to capture something of the elemental power of the landscape, the constant movement and transformation of water and rock, suggested by dynamic cliff-faces and maps to get lost in. I hope you enjoy :)
